Religion raises a lot of questions. Why are people religious? What’s at the root of religious violence? Do rituals and beliefs serve any practical purpose? The Modeling Religion Project uses the most cutting-edge simulation techniques to try to answer these questions, and to explore how religious beliefs and behaviors influence our world. A joint effort between the Institute for the Bio-Cultural Study of Religion (IBCSR) in Boston and Old Dominion University’s Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center (VMASC) in Suffolk, Virginia, the Modeling Religion Project is the first large-scale project of its kind. We’ve got the resources. We’ve got the experts. And we’re going to change the way the world looks at religion.
